Raising the world’s vibration through music

Music saves lives. It saved my life, and allowed me the deepest and most serene healing and understanding during a time of horrific wars and savagery. Music is a universal language; it speaks to the heart of every soul regardless of their creed or culture.

The first time I heard music was at our home in Beirut Lebanon, I was seven years old and we were immersed in a war. My mother and sisters had wrapped a scarf around their waist and were doing the traditional “Debkeh” (song-dance of Lebanon) to drown out the sound of bombs and bullets. The music lifted our spirits and filled us with the capacity to transcend the conflict.

I live my art. Each day is dedicated to fulfilling this practice. From the moment I wake up till the moment I go to bed my life is filled with music and poetry. My songs are conceived and born within a process that’s complex and highly sensitive; a feeling overwhelms me, I capture it with a photographic emotional lens, then I process it --singing and playing-- over a long period of time till it’s ready to be shared and performed with others.

Since I moved to California, 23 years ago, I have been exposed to myriad musical cultures from around the world. The music I create brings together these traditional elements in a unique tapestry of expression. The tones and nuances interact in harmony and evolve rhythmically toward a greater resolution. Arabic lyrics flow over rocking guitar, bass and drums, twisting melodies and weaving through western harmonies with sitar and delruba, all the elements interact together producing a greater collage of a world united through music.

Every song is a step towards my greater understanding of the human evolution and the cultivation of compassion towards that understanding. I am one in four million person who was blessed to discover music and cultivate it under falling bombs and rockets. I left my homeland and came to California carrying with me this gift of creativity and missives of peace to raise the world’s vibration through the art of music.

I pray and hope my music reaches the hearts of people and illumines the path to greater peace and understanding of the human condition.
